Readiness starts with the dependencies
Before a pilot, hardware, firmware, drivers, network, content locations, identities, encryption and security requirements must be viewed as one connected chain.
- Supported device models and firmware
- Driver and network paths
- Distribution points and content availability
Applications and user state
The operating system and base configuration are only part of the target state. Business applications, user state, permissions and support requirements decide whether a device is productively usable after the rollout.
- Application dependencies and installation order
- Data and profile settings
- Acceptance by representative user groups
Pilot, observation and fallback
A pilot needs defined target groups, success criteria, logs, escalation paths and a decision on when to stop or roll back. Without these rules even a small pilot produces ambiguous results.
- Representative pilot devices and sites
- Measurement and diagnostic points
- Stop, correction and approval criteria
Handover into ongoing operations
After technical approval, support, monitoring, documentation and responsibilities have to carry the load. The rollout only holds up once operations teams can recognise and classify typical fault patterns on their own.
- Runbooks and known fault patterns
- Ownership of content, task sequences and applications
- Communication between deployment and support

January 2025 — present
BGW
I support Windows 11 deployment, software distribution, patch management and troubleshooting within the MECM processes.
January 2021 — February 2022
BRITA GmbH
I designed and implemented MECM building blocks for images, drivers, software and cross-site content distribution.
January 2012 — February 2012
Bassler AG
I analysed OSD errors, developed tested images and packages and coordinated the technical work packages.
Windows 11 rollouts rarely fail because of the task sequence — usually it is the dependencies behind it: applications, content, maintenance windows, support. That is exactly where I start.
